How to sell from your link in bio without paying fees

Some link in bio tools take a cut of every sale, or make you upgrade before you can sell. Here's how to sell from your page and keep all of it, using the checkout you already have.

Selling from your link in bio is one of the easiest ways to turn followers into customers. But on many link in bio tools, the cheaper plans come with a catch: a fee on every sale, on top of what your card processor already charges.

Here's how those fees work, and how to sell from your page while keeping everything you earn.

Some tools let you sell directly through their own checkout. In exchange, they either take a percentage of each sale on their cheaper plans, or only let you sell once you pay for a higher plan. As of 23 October 2026, for example:

That percentage is on top of your payment processor's own fee (often around 3% plus a small fixed amount per card payment).

What that adds up to

If you sell $1,500 a month through your page:

  • At a 9% fee, you pay $135 a month, or $1,620 a year, plus any plan subscription.
  • On a $17-a-month plan with no fee, you pay $204 a year before you sell anything.
  • At 0%, you pay nothing to the link in bio tool.

You can try your own numbers in the fee calculator on our pricing page.

The alternative: use your own checkout

You don't need your link in bio tool to process payments at all. You probably already have, or can set up in minutes, a checkout from a payment company:

  • Stripe Payment Links for one-off products, deposits and services
  • PayPal for buyers who prefer it
  • Gumroad or Lemon Squeezy for digital products, courses and memberships
  • Shopify or Etsy for physical products
  • Calendly or Cal.com with payments for paid calls and sessions

Each one gives you a link. Put that link on your page as a product, and the sale happens on your checkout, between you and your buyer. The link in bio tool never touches the money, so there's nothing for it to take a cut of.

This is exactly how Biotrail works: product, tip jar and booking blocks open your own checkout, and we take 0% on every plan.

How to set up a product on your page

  1. Create the product in your checkout. In Stripe, for example, make a Payment Link with the name and price.
  2. Copy the link. It looks like buy.stripe.com/… or yourname.gumroad.com/l/….
  3. Add a product block to your page. Paste the link, add a clear title and the price.
  4. Put the best seller at the top. Most taps happen in the first two or three items.

Make it easy to buy

  • Say what people get. "12-week 50K training plan, PDF + weekly check-ins" beats "My plan".
  • Show the price. Visitors are more likely to tap when there are no surprises.
  • Add a picture. A thumbnail makes a product stand out in a list of links.
  • Keep one main offer. Too many choices slow people down.

Other ways to earn from your page

  • Tip jar. Fans pick an amount and pay through your PayPal, Stripe, Ko-fi or Buy Me a Coffee link.
  • Paid bookings. A booking block that opens your paid calendar.
  • Free download for an email. Build a list you can sell to later, without paying for ads.
  • Brand deals. A media kit page with your real stats from your link in bio analytics helps you pitch sponsors.

What about card fees?

Your payment provider's processing fee applies whichever tool you use, because it's what it costs to move money. The difference is whether a link in bio tool adds its own percentage on top. With your own checkout, it doesn't.

The short version

  • Some link in bio tools take a cut of your sales on cheaper plans, or charge a monthly plan before you can sell.
  • Your own checkout (Stripe, PayPal, Gumroad, Shopify…) lets you sell without that cut.
  • Put your checkout links on your page as products, with a clear title and price.

Questions people ask

Does Biotrail take a cut of my sales?

No. Product and tip links send buyers to your own checkout, such as Stripe, PayPal, Gumroad or Shopify, so Biotrail takes 0%.

Will I still pay card fees?

Yes. Your payment provider charges its normal processing fee on every sale, whichever link in bio tool you use.

Can I sell digital downloads?

Yes. Use a product link to your checkout, or a free download block if you want to give something away in exchange for an email.
