How to add multiple links to your Instagram bio

Instagram lets you add up to five links, but only one shows up front. Here's how to add them, and when a link in bio page works better.

For years, Instagram gave every profile exactly one clickable link. Now you can add up to five. That sounds like the problem is solved, but there's a catch: only the first link shows up front. The others hide behind an "and 4 more" tap that many visitors never make.

Here's how to add multiple links, and how to make sure people actually see them.

Instagram's built-in links are the quickest fix if you only have a few things to share.

  1. Open your profile and tap Edit profile.
  2. Tap Links, then Add external link.
  3. Paste the address and give it a short title.
  4. Repeat for up to five links, then drag them into order.

Put your most important link first. It's the only one most visitors see without tapping again. The order matters more than the number.

The limits

  • Visitors see one link and a "+4" label, not all five.
  • You can't add a price, an image, a signup form or a video player.
  • You can't see which link people tap most unless you use tracked links.
  • You'll need to set up the same links again on TikTok, YouTube and everywhere else.

A link in bio page puts all your links on one page, at one address, in your first link slot. Visitors tap once and see everything at a glance, with your photo, bio and as many links as you need.

It also lets you add things Instagram's links can't do:

  • Products with prices that open your own checkout
  • An email signup, so you can reach people without the algorithm
  • A booking button for calls, classes or appointments
  • Videos and music that play right on the page
  • Analytics showing which links get tapped

And because it's the same address everywhere, you only update it once. Change the page, and every profile that links to it is up to date.

If you're new to the idea, our guide on what a link in bio is covers the basics.

Every account can add a link sticker to Instagram Stories. It's great for timely things: a new video, a launch, a limited offer. Stories disappear after 24 hours, but you can save them to a Highlight so the link stays on your profile.

A neat trick is a "Links" Highlight with a cover that matches the rest of your profile. Our free highlight cover maker makes a matching set in your colours.

Which option should you use?

You want to…Best option
Share 2–3 things, quicklyInstagram's built-in links
Share more, sell or collect emailsA link in bio page in your first slot
Promote something for a day or twoA link sticker in Stories

Many people combine them: a link in bio page as the first link, plus a sticker in Stories for anything new.

Tips that get more taps

  • Say what's behind the link. "Free 5K training plan" gets more taps than "My website".
  • Mention it in your bio text. A short line like "New video below" points eyes at the link.
  • Point to it in captions. Links in captions aren't clickable, so "link in bio" is still the way to send people there.
  • Check what people tap. Move your best link to the top, and remove links nobody uses.

Writing that bio line is the hard part. Try the free Instagram bio generator for ideas that fit in 150 characters, and the caption formatter to keep your line breaks.

Set it up now

  1. Create a free Biotrail page with your top links.
  2. Paste its address into the first link slot on Instagram.
  3. Keep up to four more links for things you want to highlight separately.

That's it: one tap from your profile to everything you do, and no cut of anything you sell.

Questions people ask

How many links can you put in an Instagram bio?

Up to five. Only the first one is shown in full on your profile; the rest are behind a "and 4 more" tap.

Can I add links to Instagram posts or Reels captions?

Links in post and Reels captions aren't clickable. Use your bio link, a link sticker in Stories, or a link in a comment people can copy.

Why isn't my link clickable on Instagram?

Check it's in the Links section of Edit profile, not typed into your bio text. Links typed into the bio text itself aren't clickable.
